Indy’s March Activities

Here are some pictures from the last month of what Indy has been up to. Mostly it’s been sleeping:

But also some menacing when she felt the photo shoot was going on for too long:

We took another walk to the beach, which she loved even though it was cold:

And one of her favorite pastimes, looking out the window:

Blizzard 2011!

As you’ve probably heard, there was just a blizzard in Chicago. We received 20.2″ of snow in one day (most of it fell overnight), making this the 3rd largest snowfall in Chicago history. Perfect weather for a tiny dog!

When we took Indy for a walk around noon, the snow had just stopped falling, and our neighbors were already shoveling their walks. As you can see there’s quite a lot of snow!

Indy spent a lot of time burrowing in the snow like a snowplow, tossing it up with her head.

As a result, her face was coated in snow for most of the walk!

And here’s a video of some of the fun in the snow!

More snow pictures!

Over the weekend we went up to Wisconsin for a fun cabin getaway! We ended up staying in this beautiful house, called “Woofhaven,” which as you could probably guess from the title is very dog friendly. Indy had a wonderful time running around in the snow and sleeping on the couch while we drank hot cocoa. It was also her first car ride since we brought her home from Indiana. She spent most of the ride sleeping on my lap.

This is the back yard. On our first day Steve thought he dropped one of the house keys in the snow and we spent a few hours looking for it before we realized it was on the kitchen counter under a dishtowel. Whoops!

Indy liked playing in the snow but she definitely got a bit cold. Doesn’t she just look like she’s saying “can I go inside yet?” in this photo?

But then she’d get back to leaping about, shoveling snow with her nose, and chasing us around the yard.

The cabin was right by a lake, which was frozen and covered in snow. We saw several guys head out onto the ice for ice fishing. We took Indy onto the edge of the ice and she didn’t like it; she just sat and refused to move.

Snow day!

We weren’t sure if Indy would like snow. After all, her legs aren’t that long and she doesn’t like cold weather.

But it snowed about four inches here yesterday, and she loves it!

Her favorite thing to do was dig her nose in the snow. She ended up having snow stuck to her nose for most of the day!

Here she is burrowing! It looks cold to me, but she seemed to enjoy it.

Our walk actually had a purpose: we bought our Christmas tree! Steve gallantly carried it home and we decorated it. Because Indy is very inquisitive about all things tree-related we decided to buy a small tree and put it on a table. The table was too small so we used a big box that we wrapped so it looks extra festive! (Sadly, there are no presents in the box.) It still didn’t stop Indy from checking it out, though!

Naughty puppy

A few pictures of Indy being naughty

Can’t you tell from her expression that she just KNOWS she’s not supposed to be chewing on the coffee table?

And in this last one, she was just staring at us without blinking while holding a toy in her mouth. Looks pretty creepy!

Sleepy Dog

Indy loves to sleep in strange positions, so here’s a collection of funny sleep poses.

Apparently Steve is very comfortable to sleep on.

Indy also likes burrowing.

These last two are baffling. How could this possibly be comfortable?

Is there a tooth fairy for dogs?

Guess who lost her first tooth this weekend?

INDY!

Check out this close up action:

She’s definitely entered the teething phase–her favorite activities are chewing on anything in her eyesight, especially her favorite blue frisbee, her rope toy, innocent bystanders like us, or towels. In fact she’s chewing her bed towel right now, while she’s lying down. Our vet says she won’t have all her adult teeth until around 8 months, which means lots more chewing.

(also, we realize that freaking out over our dog losing her first tooth, taking photos of it, pointing 4 arrows at the empty tooth hole, and posting about it on the internet make us crazy dog people. Just wait until you see our next post–we bought Indy clothes!)
